What’s the purpose of My Profile?
Your Profile serves as a constantly growing snapshot of who you are – in and out of school. The information you’ll be asked to share will serve to provide a glimpse of the many pieces of what will end up being a very full picture of you. Also, the information you enter into your Profile will begin to fill out your Digital Portfolio and your Resume. So keep your Profile up to date as you and your interests, achievements, and experiences change and grow!
What kind of activities should I include?
A full picture of you should include all the activities you participate in – whether they’re part of or outside of school. Clubs, sports teams, extracurricular activities like band, drama, or debate, religious and civic organization involvement, volunteering – all of these types of activities should be included.
How Do I Know My Skills and Strengths?
As you move through school, the areas you excel in are likely going to change and expand. The Skills and Strengths you exhibit in 8th grade are likely to be different than the ones you exhibit in 11th. But certain traits or characteristics, in areas such as Leadership or Team Work, while different from grade to grade, could still remain consistent. Think about what qualities allow you to be really good in certain areas. These are your Skills and Strengths.
I never had a “REAL” job? How should I fill out the Employment section?
Employment is really just a fancy way of saying you’ve got a job. And in your Profile, all jobs count! So don’t rule out jobs like babysitting, dog walking, snow shoveling, or lawn care. Including these types of jobs show how you’ve taken on responsibilities and received payment to perform certain tasks consistently and well.
